I feel that this book takes what Carol Dweck chronicles in her book and translates it into something useable and purposeful for an elementary classroom.
By Nikki Dissinger
As the principal of an elementary school that has worked for many years to see all children as being able to "get smart" through hard work, I found Mary Cay Ricci's new book to serve as pleasing confirmation of much of that work. She also challenges us, though, to not be satisfied until every child believes in their own fabulous potential.
Ms. Ricci's book is reader-friendly and conversational in tone. The book, though, is filled with her constantly-evolving research on the topic of growth mindsets and the transformational intelligence of children. Ms. Ricci uses specific examples of student responses and their thinking as she takes us on a journey of changing students' beliefs about themselves. It is a must-read for anyone who works with children and is committed to their self-efficacy.
