Seven Wonders Book 1: The Colossus Rises Description
Percy Jackson meets Indiana Jones in the New York Times bestselling epic adventure Seven Wonders! The Colossus Rises is the first book in a seven-book series. This first installment chronicles the story of Jack McKinley, an ordinary kid with an extraordinary problem. In a few months, he’s going to die—unless he finds seven magic Loculi that have been hidden in the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Rick Riordan calls Seven Wonders “a high-octane mix of modern adventure and ancient secrets. The Colossus Rises is Lerangis’s most gripping work yet. Young readers will love this story. I can’t wait to see what’s next in the Seven Wonders series!”

I enjoyed Colossus Rises!
While some may not like it, I felt it was a fun and eventful book that is surely going to excite those who are fans of Percy Jackson or Charlie Bone. While it may by no means be Harry Potter (honestly, what is?) it was a great adventure that I'm sure fans of HP can appreciate and fans of PJ will completely love!
Colossus Rises is def for a younger audience which is obvious through it's writing style and character dialogue, but it was still an intelligent book andthough it was yes, childish at times, I made sure to remember that it WAS a child's book and took it with a grain of salt(is that the saying? hrm)
All of the characters introduced where fun and added to make the world much more developed, but with that being said, I would have liked more of the universe of the Seven Wonders to have been more fleshed out but I assume that will be done in the next 6 books!
Over all, this book is for those who are looking for a fun, VERY fast paced read filled with magic and adventure, tons of humor and a little danger to keep you on your toes.
I can not wait for the sequel and recommend it for anyone looking to get a younger person into reading.

I teach 5th grade and got a sample of this book for free. I sometimes get bored with kids' books but not this one! It's very action packed, which is great for kids because slow spots in books are no good for them, and they often quit. This book is for the more fluent reader; the vocabulary is a little advanced for a reader who struggles.
