When I was in pre-medical training 60 years ago one of my chemistry major buddies had the most recent copy of this book. Out of curiosity I would thumb through it, and found it to be like reading a dictionary or encyclopedia. Want to know how much the earth weighs? It's in there. Chemical compounds by the hundreds; formulae for all sorts of things. Of course you never will use them, but what fun to read! I bought this for my son who is a junior at Indiana University majoring in organic chemistry. Didn't ask if he wanted it, just sent it and said to watch for a package in the mail. He called the day he got it and was almost giddy with the information contained in the book. Probably should have gotten the version for iPad for him. I don't know if he will find this helpful, or not. But it's just damned fun to read.

I have to say first that I know nothing of Chemistry or Physics. My son asked for this for Christmas. It's huge. It's well made. An impressive beast of a book that should last him a looooooong time.
