Sea Swept Mass Market Description
Amazon.com Review
Sibling trilogies are fast becoming Nora Roberts's forte.
Sea Swept tells the tale of three brothers--all former juvenile delinquents adopted by Raymond Quinn and his wife, Stella. Cameron, Ethan, and Philip are as different as can be, but they are bound by their love and respect for their adoptive father, who has recently passed away. On his deathbed he asks his sons to look after their most recent brother, 10-year-old Seth, who--if the rumors are to believed--just may be Ray's biological son. Of course, the brothers don't know anything about caring for the young boy, and if social worker Anna Spinelli has anything to say about it, they won't. However, the sparks that fly over the fate of Seth are nothing compared to the romantic sparks that fly between Anna and Cameron. Nora Roberts once again proves why she is the premiere author of 1990s contemporary romance. Her stories have universal appeal, and
Sea Swept is no exception.

Sea Swept may give readers a case of deja vu. But don't worry, you are not losing your mind, Roberts is just traversing some familiar ground in her latest mainstream romance. Granted, this is hard not to do, given the number of books Roberts has written. With Sea Swept's main characters, the three Quinn brothers, Roberts has re-cycled some of her earlier work, especially her Mackenzie brothers series for Silhouette Intimate Moments. Even though we've seen these guys, or shades of them, before, they are still entertaining.
While Roberts may have a gift for creating appealing and realistic male characters, she too often draws heroines that are equally unappealing. Such is the case in Sea Swept. Anna Spinelli, the love interest for hero Cameron Quinn, is unsympathetic. Though Roberts tried to create a strong, pulled-herself-up-by-her-bootstraps heroine, what she ends up with is an unattractive woman who comes across as rather cheap.
Hero Cameron Quinn, disappoints as well. His transformation from immature, self-absorbed playboy to responsible, somewhat grown-up,is unconvincing.
Given the shortcomings of Roberts' main characters, it is not suprising that their love story leaves readers cold. Based solely on sex, Cameron and Anna's relationship is shallow and leads to an unconvincing happily-ever-after ending.
Sea Swept's best moments are the scenes between the Quinn brothers. They are funny and the dialog and thought processes of the men ring true. In these instances, Roberts does prove that she knows how to write convincing male characters.
What Roberts is unable to prove, though, is that she, or her editor, proofread her work. Early in then novel, Quinn brother Phillip has a navy blue Land Rover. Later on he has a Jeep.
