Pretty much as the title says. Bought the book because of my course required it. Essentially, the book sends you on a Wild-goose chase. Having you follow very lengthy and overly drawn out instructions only to be brought back to the beginning. The book sets out to play the role of a distraction than a tool for education.
Every chapter is designed to bring you one step closer to your goal, only to have you undo your instructions, and re-do them in a different fashion, therefore taking you two steps back. Unfortunately, it will not stop there. The 'New Perspective' series of books seems to have a tendency to make sure you learn the ins and outs by either repeating the same task in a different way, or by over explaining every minute detail. Which, if you have read this book, you'll know that it does a whole lot of that as well.
In each chapter, you are brought into a half witted story, placing you as the role of a project manager. In every story you are tasked with a new challenge, depending on what the topic or focus of the lessons at hand are. So for example, if you are tasked with allocating resources to specific groups, you'll do just that for one portion of the chapter, if that is indeed the focus. Each task in the tutorials is heavily intricate and detailed, and will very much have you reading along, if not once, then definitely twice to see if you missed an important detail.
Once you are done with the tutorial, if your instructor is sadistic enough, he/she will give you an assignment at the end of every chapter, which covers a few of the topics learned.
One of my main issues with this book, is that it seems to overly instruct with no real purpose or goal.
