One Tiny Lie: A Novel Description
In this follow-up novel to the top-selling Ten Tiny Breaths, Livie Cleary faces a new set of challenges as she navigates freshman year at Princeton, wild parties, and the gorgeous rowing team captain who is everything she doesn’t want in a guy, or so she thinks…“Make me proud.” These were the last words Livie’s father ever spoke to her. In the seven years since her parents’ tragic death, Livie has done her best to keep this promise through her every choice, word, and action, while looking after her sister with strength and maturity. But with college right around the corner, unexpected challenges will test her resilience—and her heart.
Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy to marry someday. What isn’t part of her plan are Jell-O shots; a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say “no” to; and Ashton, the arrogant—and extremely attractive—captain of the men’s rowing team who makes Livie’s usually non-existent temper flare. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who fits Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?
As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.

"Life has a funny way of creating its own tests. It throws curve balls that make you do and think and feel things that are in direct conflict with what you had planned and don't allow you operate in terms of black and white."
One Tiny Lie was an intense read filled with raw emotion, hot sexual tension and the dreaded love triangle. If you loved Ten Tiny Breaths, which I did, you will absolutely fall in love with this book.
"Normal is boring. Tequila, Livie. It makes wallflowers into butterflies."
Ever since Livie was 9 years old, her dad and her had her picture perfect life all planned out. So when he was killed in a tragic accident Livie felt the need to honor him by following through with their plan. She has lived the life she thought her dad would want her to. She is now attending the college her dad attended, following the career path they chose together and is dating Connor, the boy her dad would approve of. All that changed in a split second, when her sister shoved a Jell-O shot in her hand and the hot guy shoved his tongue down her throat. Does she really want that cookie cutter life that she planned for or does she want to live life the way she wants to? Does she take a gamble or does she stay with the safe bet?
Connor is the hot boy next door with the sexy Irish accent. His goal in life is to be an attorney just like his father. He is best friends, team mates and roomies with Ashton, and witnesses his daily womanizing ways. Luckily for Connor he has found Livie, the girl of his dreams and doesn't have to worry about all the row team groupies hanging around.
"Connor is perfect and easy. Ashton is far from perfect. I know now what Storm and Kacey mean when they call someone "sex on a stick." That's what Ashton is.
Last year, I had the pleasure of reading Ten Tiny Breaths. It had such an impact on me that it made my Top Ten list of last year. So to say I was eager to get my hands on ONE TINY LIE, would be an understatement. I feel privileged to read so many quality books. It's hard for an average reader to understand how many books a reviewer reads in a year. I certainly had no clue, before I became a reviewer. What's my point? My point is that I find quality in every book I read, but it takes a gem to really stand out. This book...is one of my gems.
Personality wise, I'm probably more like Kacey. She's like a bull in a china shop, while Livie IS the china shop. Yet, they do have similarities. They are sisters after all. I remember having so many feelings for Livie in TTB. Kacey handled her grief in a very different way than Livie did. Livie had no choice but to move forward. She had to make decisions at a very young age for herself and really for Kacey too. That's a lot of pressure for a child. But I also think that it was her nature, even as a kid, to do what made others happy. She likes keeping the peace. I'm not saying that I think Livie is a pushover, because I don't think she is. She nurtures. Plus, I think it was just easier for her to accept than to challenge. Does that make sense? So, what did I learn about Livie in this book? Well, I learned that Livie needed to find herself. She's been so focused on what everyone else was doing, needing or expecting of her, that I don't think she really allowed herself to understand what she wanted out of life. THAT was the point of the book, in my opinion. Adding Ashton into the equation was icing on the cake. That boy turned her world upside down.
Oh, Ashton. Here's how my feelings went for Ash. Love, grrr..., LOVE.
