This book was really beautiful. It definitely had its dark moments, but what came after is what made it a great read.

Whats it about:
Our heroine, Mia, has only known relationships to be physically and emotionally abusive. It started with her father, Oliver, who finally died of a heart attack. The scars he left on her went far more than just physical. Not knowing what to do with herself after his death, Mia finally got out and tried to enjoy living life for the first time without the father she always hated. Almost right away she went into her very first relationship with Forbes, a student studying law. He seemed absolutely perfect, that is until he started abusing her. Per Forbes "the abused becomes the abuser" in his case and hers "the abused...stays abused" (or something like that). After catching him cheating, of all things to send her over the edge, this pretty much did. Then when he came to confront her, he tries to rape her and promises her other horrible things. Mia flees and sets out to find her long lost mother who she thought died when she was a baby. She found out that the mother didn't die when she found papers while going through her dad's stuff. Those papers contained an address.
Our hero, Jordan, is the typical hard core party guy character. Dark past, dark present with an expected dark future. He feels like he is the black sheep of the family and hates himself for the problems he has caused his father. His mom passed away not too long ago and his father and he have a strained, but good relationship. He runs the towns nicer hotel with his father, who owns it.
