Board Stiff Description
"The funniest deputy coroner to cut up a corpse since, well, ever." —Laura Levine
Sorenson, Wisconsin's deputy coroner Mattie Winston is back on the job. . .in a nursing home examining the body of Bernie Chase—the now former president of the Twilight Home's board of directors—who is covered in a powder used to turn liquids to solids. The home's residents are certain Bernie was offing the patients who cost him too much. . .and the patient that found him can't remember a thing.
Between her ongoing tug of war with Detective Hurley, fulfilling her new job requirement of seeing a shrink, and wrangling with the Twilight Home's board of directors, Mattie's got her scrubbed hands full. She'll need all of her outside-the-box forensic skills to crack a case that's turning out to be stranger—and more dangerous—than anything she's seen before!

This was a great addition to the Mattie Winston series. I was happy to see Mattie back in the medical examiner's office. Not having her employed there would have been disappointing.
On her first day back on the job, Mattie is embroiled in a murder at a local nursing home when one of the owners is found dead. For the first time in two months Mattie must see and work with love interest Steve Hurley. In Mattie's world nothing is ever easy as she not only must help solve the murder, but she also tries to work through some personal issues with Hurley and her own family. As far as the murder mystery, I was floored as to the murderer actually was. There were many possibilities to whom the person could have been, but I didn't see that person as the one.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have all of Mattie's adventures. This; however, was the best of all. I can't wait to see what happens in the next installment.

I really enjoy this series. I wish that she would not have so much of the diary and more of first person dialog, but I can hardly wait for the next book to come out so that I can find out what comes next.
