"Fodor's London 2014" (468 pages) is the latest edition of the on-going London travel guide published by Fodor. If you wonder whether these editions change from year to year, the answer is: slightly but not dramatically. This edition came out in mid-August, and the cut-off date for the latest revisions was probably sometime in the early Spring. Last year (even though the book came out AFTER the Olympics took place), there were a bunch of references and tips on how to deal with the expected crowd surge in London for the Olympics, and thankfully most of them have been deleted or revised (but the editors still find it worthwhile to mention that it was 'possibly the best ever' Olympics).
After an introductory 38 page "Experience London" chapter, the book then dives into 12 detailed chapters (covering about 200 pages) on the various geographical areas of the city ("Soho and Covent Garden", "The East End", etc.). I carefully read up on "South of the Thames" (which primarily covers the area around the London Eye) as my daughter lived there for 5+ months not long ago and I had a chance to visit her a few times. I can only confirm the comments by the editors that the Tate Modern (housed in a renovated power station) is a must-see. The guide gives detailed insights on the museum, including when the free guided tours take place (wish I would've known that beforehand!). After those 12 chapters, the second half of the travel guide is devoted to "Where to Eat", Where to Stay", "Shopping", and other such topics. Frankly, I find it the less interesting part of the guide, although I imagine that if you are at the very beginning of your plans for a London visit, it will come in quite handy.
